Most patients are discharged from the hospital 5-14 days after surgery depending on whether Open Surgery or Endo-Vascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) has been performed.

It may take up to 6 weeks after surgery for the tissues to knit together after discharge and all the wounds to fully heal. It is therefore recommended to avoid any strenuous activity during this period. That said, most of the pain and swelling should settle within 2 weeks of discharge.

The patient will be carefully monitored by their Vascular Surgeon and outpatient consultation within 7-10 days after discharge is usual.
